GROWING UP ISN'T EASY

You're Not Alone
Small steps, lead to big changes
Young people today face increasing pressures from school, friendships, social media, family expectations and the uncertainty of finding their place in the world. Sometimes these challenges can leave them feeling overwhelmed, anxious, withdrawn, angry or simply misunderstood.
At Red Earth Counselling & Wellbeing, I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where young people can explore their thoughts and emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and build the confidence to move forward.
Every young person deserves to feel heard, understood and supported.
Behaviour is Communication
Young people often communicate through their behaviour long before they have the words to explain what's happening inside.
What looks like "bad behaviour" is often a sign that something deeper needs to be understood.

Common Questions
Sessions are relaxed and shaped around what works for you. We might talk, use activities or practical strategies, or work through something that’s been happening. There’s no expectation to sit down and immediately talk about everything.
What you share is generally kept private. There are some situations where I may need to involve a parent, caregiver or another person to help keep you or someone else safe. We’ll talk about confidentiality and its limits so you know what to expect.
Not unless you would prefer to have them there. There may be times when we involve a parent or caregiver for a session or part of a session, but other wise you will mostly attend your sessions indiviually. We’ll work out what is most helpful for you.
Parents are an important part of the counselling journey.
Depending on your child's age and preferences, counselling may include parent sessions, joint family sessions or regular updates where appropriate and with the young person's consent.
My goal is to support both the young person and their family by improving understanding, strengthening communication and creating strategies that can be carried into everyday life.

My Approach
Young people respond best when they feel respected—not judged.
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based and practical. Rather than telling young people what they "should" do, I work alongside them to better understand what's happening in their world and help them develop skills they can confidently use in everyday life.
Sessions may include conversation, creative activities, psychoeducation, values work, emotional regulation strategies and practical tools that are tailored to the young person's age, interests and goals.
